OCZ Release New Vertex 460 Series of SATA III 6Gbps SSD's

26th January 2014
OCZ have announced the release of their newest Low Profile 7mm SATA III SSD's, a further expansion of their Vertex range, the Vertex 460.

Lightweight
Hot on the heels of the Vector 150's this drive again uses OCZ's own Barefoot 3 controller and is available in the same three sizes, 120GB, 240GB and 480GB. However it is a little more lightweight than the 150's in both physical weight and specifications.

Differences
The main differences you will spot when looking through the specs are.
  • A slightly lower Random Read 4k speed, 95,000 IOPS compared to 100,000 IOPS.
  • Endurance rated for 20GB/day for 3 years instead of 50GB/day for 5 years.
Over Critical?
Some would say we are being over critical and to be honest it's probably true, it says a lot of good things for the build and performance quality when we have to look this hard to find deficiencies.

High Quality
All in all this is another high quality drive from OCZ, it is the first release since their acquisition by Toshiba and utilises Toshiba's 19nm MLC NAND flash memory, coupled with the Barefoot 3 controller it is hard to see where it can wrong.

We've listed the specs for these drives, they can be found here.
