Google's Acquisition of Robotics Companies

27th December 2013
Google has been busy this year with, amongst other things, buying up robotics companies. They have recently bought several and are reported to be looking for more. The companies in question have or are in the process of developing humanoid robots, 3 dimensional vision and powered wheels capable of driving vehicles.

To head up this new venture Google have appointed none other than Andy Rubin, who most of you will remember had the idea of Android, something that a lot of prominent people were quick to scoff at and ended up with us all owning our own portable hand held computer under the guise of tablets and smartphones.

Where is it all leading?
That is the big question, and to date Google have been tight lipped and speculation has been rampant, with guesses ranging from robotic delivery vehicles and personnel to the ludicrous google private army.

You never know we could end up with our parcels being delivered on time and to the right address, or alternatively thousands of Google Trucks stuck on UK roundabouts unable to work out how to exit. Where ever this is truly heading it will definitely be one to watch over the next couple of years.
