Blackberry Announce Fairfax to Purchase $250,000,000 of Additional Convertible Debentures

Blackberry has announced that Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited will be purchasing an additional $250,000,000 worth of unsecured subordinated convertible debentures of BlackBerry on or before 16th January 2014.

The sale will be done through Fairfax's subsidiaries and is pursuant to the exercise of a previously announced option that was granted in connection with BlackBerry’s private placement of $1 billion principal amount of Debentures on November 13, 2013.

The convertible debentures will not be registered under the U.S. Securities Act of 1933 and as such may not be offered or sold in the United States.

Blackberry are a global leader in Wireless communication devices whose headquarters are based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. The company was founded by Mike Lazaridis and they are best known for their Blackberry Smartphones and the Playbook Tablet, although they also produce software for businesses including the Blackberry Operating System.
